Poem: Thanksgiving Day

Thankful for
The big things,
Like my husband and my daughter.

And for
The little things,
A comfy bed, a hot shower.

Thankful for friends and family;
For potatoes smothered in delicious gravy.

Thankful for love sweeter than pumpkin pie,
And for all that money cannot buy.

It’s easy to focus on
What we want,
And what we need…
Yet left unchecked,
This attitude
Leads us astray,
Turns us to greed.

Come what may,
Let us instead choose
Gratitude
And make each day
Thanksgiving Day.
